What is Caffeine ?

Caffeine is a white crystalline xanthine alkaloids are bitter, which is a psychoactivestimulant drug. Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich FerdinandRunge, in 1819. He coined the term kaffein, a chemical compound in coffee (Kaffee in German), which in English became caffeine.

Caffeine is found in various types of nuts, leaves, and fruits of various plants. Caffeinealso acts as a natural pesticide that repels and kills certain insects that live in these plants. Caffeine is most often consumed by humans from the extraction of fruit coffeebeans and tea leaves, as well as a variety of food and fruit-based drinks and colas.Another source of caffeine is the yerba plant, guarana seeds, and the Yaupon Holly.

In humans, caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system (CNS, Central NervousSystem), has a temporary effect to avoid drowsiness and restoring a state of siege.Dishes that contain caffeine, like coffee, tea, soft drinks and energy drinks, have a widefame. Caffeine is a psychoactive element of the most widely used in the world, but, unlike many other psychoactive element, caffeine is legal and unregulated in nearly alljuridical institutions. In North America, 90% of adults consume caffeine every day. Food and Drug Administration USA (FDA) registered caffeine as a "for various purposescaffeine recognizable as an element of safe food".

Caffeine has a diuretic effect, at least when given in small doses to subjects who had notolerance to it. The regular user, however, has developed a strong tolerance to this effectin general and the study can not prove the general conjecture that consuming food that contain caffeine contribute significantly to dehydration.
